UAE Innovation

The second edition of the UAE Innovation Week 2016 will be launched on Sunday nationwide under the aegis of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

All the UAE cities, towns and villages will celebrate talented and their outstanding ideas for seven days, starting from November 20- 26.

The event focusses on motivating members of the community to get involved in provision of innovative solutions to the challenges and contribute to the development of life patterns according to the future vision to support government policies, with the aim to improve the society so as to enhance the status of the UAE among the most innovative countries.

Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Chairman of the National Committee for Science, Technology and Innovation, and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the UAE Innovation Week, said that the event has become a national one to celebrate the innovation and innovators.

"This reflects the directives of the UAE leadership to encourage the adoption of innovative approaches have become the work and community culture," he said, stressing the importance of concerted efforts of all parties, including the government and private sector and societal organisations to build effective partnerships so as to lay the foundations for building a knowledge society.

Al Gergawi said the UAE has succeeded in creating a conducive environment for people with outstanding ideas through the initiative of the UAE Innovation Week and other initiatives that will pave the way to build a knowledge-based economy by focusing on seven key sectors: renewable energy, technology, education, health, transport, water and space.

He urged all individuals and groups to participate effectively to attract talents and encourage them to generate innovative ideas and explore promising talents and support them to come up with innovative solutions for future challenges.

Members of the Supreme Committee of the Week emphasised that they were keen to embrace the directives of the leadership to adopt innovative approaches in all fields, in a manner that supports the UAE's leading position on the map of global innovation.
