UAE Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed al-Mansouri (R)

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, and Edgars Rinkevics, Latvian Foreign Minister, have discussed aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways of boosting these in various fields.

The meeting, which took place at the ministry's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, was attended by Humaid bin Butti Al Muhairi, Assistant Undersecretary for the corporate sector and consumer protection along with a number of officials in the ministry and protection.

The meeting also touched on means to strengthen cooperation and improve economic relations, besides raising the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

In this regard, the UAE's Minister of Economy said bilateral relations between the UAE and the Republic of Latvia has experienced further development and prosperity through 2013, as trade volume reached Dh150 million.

Al Mansouri called on businessmen and investors from the Republic of Latvia to view investment opportunities in the country as well as laws and regulations governing the economic and investment activities in the UAE.

The meeting also reviewed the importance of the UAE-Latvia Business Forum, hosted by Abu Dhabi, and considered it a vital platform for enhancing cooperation between businessmen and investors of the two countries.

During the meeting, Al Mansouri highlighted the need to develop a framework for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, suggesting the signing of an economic cooperation agreement to enhance communication between officials of both countries.

The Latvian Foreign Minister and the economic delegation accompanying him hailed the UAE's government keenness to strengthen trade cooperation with Latvia.

He pointed out that there are many available opportunities in both countries, commending the proposal to sign an economic cooperation agreement to promote economic and trade relations between the two friendly countries.
