Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Thursday with his Eritrean counterpart Othman Saleh and Eritrean Presidential Adviser For Political Affairs Yamani Jabr.

During the gathering, Shoukry handed over an invitation from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to attend the African economic blocs' summit slated to be held in Egypt in the Red Sea Resort of Sharm El Sheikh in June, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Atti said.

They touched on boosting bilateral ties, Abdel Atti added.

The Egyptian top diplomat asserted that Egypt is keen on providing support for Eritrea and all African countries in the fields of health, education and fisheries as well as training and qualifying African cadres, according to Abdel Atti.

Shoukry and the two Ertierian officials tackled a number of regional issues, notably the political and security situation in Africa in general and the developments in the Horn of Africa in particular.

The situation in Yemen and regional efforts to ensure free navigation and the movement of international trade were also dealt with in the meeting.
