Cairo - MENA
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has met with Equatorial Guinean Ambassador to Egypt Eustaguio Nseng Esono to probe aspects of cooperation, cabinet spokesman Hossam Qawish said Thursday.
Egypt played an important role in Equatorial Guinea through providing it with medical services and through Egyptian construction companies working in the country, mainly the Arab Contractors, Mahlab said.
Meanwhile, the Equatorial Guinean envoy conveyed his country's condolences to the Egyptian leadership and government over the recent terrorist attacks in Egypt, including the assassination of Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat and the North Sinai attacks.
The two sides also discussed preparations for holding a conference on combating Ebola in Malabo next month, which is expected to be attended by Mahlab.
Egypt's top prosecutor was killed on June 29 after a car bomb targeted his motorcade in Cairo. Two days later, a string of attacks hit several army checkpoints in North Sinai, killing and injuring dozens of army men.
