European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Suma Chakrabarti will start a visit to Cairo on Tuesday to be the first of its kind after the bank approved Egypt as a "country of operations" in October 2015.
The itinerary of the two-day visit, which comes in light of partnership between Egypt and the EBRD, was set by Adviser to the International Cooperation Minister Nihal Helmy, in coordination with the European bank.
Besides holding talks with International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr, Chakrabarti will meet with a number of government and private sectors officials.
Chakrabarti's visit comes within the framework of the bank plans to launch its first initiative in Egypt based on the needs of the Egyptian people with a view to achieving sustainable and integrated economic growth, Nasr said.
The minister added that Chakrabarti will expound on projects that would be funded by the bank during the upcoming period in Egypt that is expected to be the second largest EBRD country of operation by 2017.
