Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi received Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa at the Carthage Presidential Palace in the northern suburbs of the capital Tunis.
Essebsi conveyed his greetings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and stressed the strong ties between the two countries and their commitment to reinforce them in various fields.
He highlighted his successful visit to Manama in January 2016 and its positive results which renewed bilateral ties and asserted Tunisia's solidarity with Bahrain in its efforts to protect national security and stability.
The minister conveyed the greetings of HM the King, HRH Prime Minister and HRH Crown Prince to President Essebsi and their best wishes for further security and stability in Tunisia.
He hailed security cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two countries, hailing the security achievements of Tunisia in terms of political stability, democracy reinforcement and counterterrorism.
The minister said that the visit was a continuation of security cooperation and coordination and the follow up of the implementation of security cooperation agreement between the two countries signed during the Tunisian President’s visit to Bahrain.
He highlighted the threats and challenges facing Arab nation that require ongoing negotiation, cooperation and coordination, as well as fast dealing with international changes to protect regional security and national accomplishments.
Lt.-Gen. Shaikh Rashid held a session of talks with his Tunisian counterpart, Hedi Mejdoub, in the presence of the delegations of both countries.
In a statement on the occasion, he asserted the importance of such meetings for further cooperation and cooperation to promote the interests of both countries.
The meeting discussed various security-related topics and ways to activate security cooperation to achieve targeted goals.
The two sides decided to set up a bilateral security committee that will draw up action programmes to follow up the security agreement between the two countries.
