State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani received on Thursday, Director General of the International Islamic News Agency, IINA Issa Khaireh Robleh.
At the meeting, which was attended by Director General of Jordan News Agency, Petra Faisal Al Shboul, Momani said that Jordan appreciates the role of IINA in addressing current challenges facing the Islamic world.
The minister stressed the need to enhance the role of media outlets as well as IINA in fighting terrorism and extremism and clarifying the true of image Islam.
IINA, he said should be at the forefront of media efforts to deal with the phenomena of extremist ideology and Islamophobia, noting that the war against extremism is not only a military one, but is also an ideological, cultural and media war.
For his part Director General of IINA reviewed aspects related to the agency’s coverage of news pertaining to the Islamic world and Islamic minorities in various parts of the world.
IINA he said, is interested in forging closer cooperation with Jordanian media departments in terms of news and cultural exchange.
Director of Petra Faisal Al Shboul voiced full readiness to boost cooperation and coordination with IINA in media, technical and training fields.
