South Korean president, Norwegian prime minister hold talks

South Korean President Park Geun-hye held here on Friday a summit with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, who began a four-day trip to South Korea.
Seoul's presidential office said that the two leaders agreed to continuously boost cooperation in high value-added areas, including on eco-friendly ships and offshore plants, based on a memorandum of understanding(MOU) on shipbuilding and developing green vessels.
The top office expressed hope that the latest agreement will lead to expanded exports of South Korean ships and offshore plants to Norway.
Currently, the two countries have a cooperative system in which South Korea builds ships and offshore plants ordered by Norway and the European country supplies Seoul with equipment.
In September 2012, the two countries adopted the MOU on shipbuilding and developing green ships. Through the accord, South Korea and Norway are cooperating in research and development related to offshore plant safety designs and exchanging technology on eco-friendly ships.
