Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, President of Somalia, has received H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State, and Mohammed Ahmed Othman Al Hammadi, Ambassador of the UAE to Somalia.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to the Somali president the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as their best wishes for continuous stability, progress and prosperity for Somalia and its people.
The Somali president requested Sheikh Abdullah to convey his greetings to His Highness the President, His Highness the Vice President and His Highness the Crown Prince.
He stressed that his country is keen on bolstering bilateral relations with the UAE noting that this is a priority for his government due to the notable stature of the UAE> During the meeting which was later joined by a number of Somali ministers, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation and relations and ways of promoting these relations in all spheres. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
The two sides also discussed the most important humanitarian and development projects being carried out by the UAE in Somalia, in the security, healthcare and services sectors, among others, to serve the interests of the brotherly Somali people.
Later, and in the presence of the Somali president, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Abdusalam Hadliyeh Omer, Somalia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Investment Promotion, signed an air services agreement.
The Somali officials who attended the meeting included Mohamed Aden Ibrahim, Minister of Finance; Ali Ahmed Jama, Minister of Transport and Aviation; Abdirizak Omar Mohamed, Minister of National Security; Khadar Bashir Ali, Minister of Education; Hawa Hassan Mohamed, Minister of Health; Deputy Foreign Minister of Somalia, Ahmed Ali Kadieh; Lieutenant General Mohamed Sheikh Hassan Hamud, Chief of the Police Force; and Major General Abdulrahma Turyare, Chief of Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency.
