President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday received winger of the Egyptian national team and Serie A's AS Roma Mohamed Salah.
Youth and Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz take part in the meeting.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said the president affirmed that the Egyptian state attaches great importance to sport as an important factor in investing the energy of young people and direct it towards areas beneficial to them and their country.
He hailed the role played by all Egyptian athletes abroad as Egyptian ambassadors to the world.
The president also praised the model presented by the player in donating to the Long live Egypt (Tahya Misr) Fund.
He affirmed the importance of the social role of athletes in providing a good example to the society and their contribution to the social development efforts taking place in Egypt at the current phase.
For his part, Salah thanked the president for receiving him, and pledged to spare no effort to honor Egypt in various African and international sporting events.
Sisi wished the national team good luck to please the Egyptian people in the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
