President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday asserted that Egypt is ready to extend all forms of assistance to Iraq.
At a meeting here with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafri, Sisi confirmed the inalienable Egyptian stance supporting the sovereignty of the Iraqi State over its full territories, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef in press statements after the meeting.
Egypt is also supporting all efforts that are aimed at restoring stability and security to Iraq, said the spokesman quoted Sisi as saying. The meeting that was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
The president also underlined rejection of any foreign interference in the Iraqi internal affairs and urged standing up to any attempt for sowing sedition among the Iraqi people, added the spokesman.
The president further lauded efforts exerted by the Iraqi government for fighting terrorism and asserted that Egypt is siding with Iraq in its fight against this danger that threatens the unity of the Arab societies and the world at large the spokesman noted.
For his part, the Iraqi top diplomat asserted that relations between the two countries are distinguished. He also expressed hope for upgrading bilateral relations to higher levels, said the spokesman.
He also expounded the developments of the Iraqi armed forces efforts for standing up to terrorist groups; asserting his country's appreciation for the Egyptian stance on uprooting terrorism in the region, added the spokesman.
