Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, met on Tuesday in his office at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, with New York City Police Commissioner William J. Bratton, and John J. Miller, deputy commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism of the City of New York Police Department and the accompanying delegation.
H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in all aspects of police work with the visitors, in addition to a number of topics of mutual interest. Both parties agreed to exchange representatives between NYPD and ADP, in order to foster communication and contribute efficient and effective benchmarking among both institutions.
The meeting was attended by Major General, Nasser bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Resources and Support Services; Brigadier Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director General of the Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; and Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Head of Security Support Department.
The two American guests and the accompanying delegation toured the Civil Defence Academy in Abu Dhabi. They were briefed on the tasks carried out by the academy and the different standards applied to boost the efficiency of Civil Defence staff members, in addition to the methods adopted to keep pace with international developments and field applications in the firefighting field.
At the Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters, the visiting delegation reviewed the general aspects of the police strategy. They were also briefed about the services and tasks undertaken by the Security Support Department, as well as the operating systems at the Operations Room of Abu Dhabi Police. They were also introduced to the tasks and duties of the Negotiation Department, the Explosives Department, the Security Support Patrol and its equipment, and the mobile command room.
