Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese on Tuesday met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
During the meeting, the Pope asserted non-politicized role of the church, adding, it serves the community out of its beliefs without political considerations.
The Pope highlighted the Muslim-Christian diversity of Egyptian community as a key factor for stable Middle East.
"Nobody can imagine the Middle East without Christians," he said, noting, when Muslims and Christians stand shoulder to shoulder they create a beautiful image of the region.
During the meeting, the Lebanese top diplomat invited Pope Tawadros II to visit Beirut.
