House of Representatives Speaker Ali Abdel Aal met with German member of parliament Bernhard Schulte-Drüggelte and his accompanying delegation to discuss aspects of cooperation and issues related to regional peace and security.
Consultation between Egypt and Germany has become a necessity in light of the turbulent situation in the region and the spread of terrorism, Abdel Aal said during the meeting.
He pointed out to Egypt’s role in fighting terrorism and urged the German government to take more positive stances regarding internal conditions in Egypt.
Political relations between the two countries are not on the same level of economic ties that have largely developed in the past period, he said.
He shed light on the recent visit by Al Azhar grand imam to Germany and the values of tolerance and openness it embodied.
