The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Tuesday affirmed his country's support for the efforts exerted by President Michel Aoun in a bid to overcome the crucial situation during the post Hariri resignation period.

The Emir also reiterated Kuwait's stanch support for Lebanon's independence, sovereignty, and freedom.

Al-Sabah's support has been relayed to the President by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Lebanon, Abdel-Al Al-Qenaei, who visited Aoun at Baabda Palace. Talks between the pair reportedly focused on the general situation in light of recent developments.

In turn, President Aoun conveyed his greetings to Sheikh Al-Sabah, and thanked him for "the support that Kuwait always provides to Lebanon and its people."

On a different level, President Aoun held on Tuesday a number of consultative meetings with political leaders, parties, bodies, and gatherings.

The President discussed with his visitors the latest developments concerning the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and hailed the fact that Lebanon's position vis-à-vis this issue was fully united.

"The return of Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Beirut, as announced in his television interview, will allow further discussions over the reasons and circumstances that had accompanied the announcement of the resignation," Aoun said.

Moreover, Aoun expressed satisfaction concerning the "international reactions in support of Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, free national decision and non-interference in its affairs."

Also on Tuesday, Aoun received a phone call from German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, during which she affirmed solidarity with Lebanon and supported all the ongoing efforts to restore stability in the country.

Merkel also confirmed to the President ongoing contacts among European countries to address the current crisis in Lebanon
