Amman - Petra
The European Union's Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, is due to visit Israel and the Palestinian Authority to resume peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis after forming formation of the government in Israel.
Mogherini is meeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday and will also meet Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas next Wednesday and Thursday, the Israeli radio said.
The EU foreign ministers during their rotational meeting in Brussels next Monday will discuss the latest developments regarding the Palestinian-Israeli issue.
Mogherni proposed Fernando Jentelini as the European envoy to the Middle East. Jentelini is an Italian diplomat who worked as Director of West Europe, Balkan and Turkey of the European External Action, and worked in Afghanistan with NATO and in Kosovo.
The EU foreign ministers should approve his appointment, which is aimed at reviving the Palestinian Israeli peace process.
