Geneva - Arab Today
Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal held talks with Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, upper house of parliament, Valentina Matviyenko on the sidelines of meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva.
The talks took up the return of the Russian aviation movement to Egypt, especially to Sharm El Sheikh, the top destination for Russian holidaymakers.
A Russian delegation had visited Egypt recently to stand on aviation security measures in the country, which are the same applied worldwide, Abdel Aal said.
On October 31, 2015, a Russia-operated Airbus A321 crashed en route from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh to St. Petersburg. All 224 people on board the plane were killed. Soon after the catastrophe, Russia suspended all passenger flights to and from Egypt, citing security concerns.
