Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson for talks on boosting cooperation between Egypt and the UN, Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati said Monday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich conference for security.
Talks tackled Egypt's effective participation in the UN peacekeeping operations, the spokesman said.
The two sides discussed the tragic situation in Gaza and efforts by Egypt and Norway to meet the urgent needs of Gazans.
Efforts to revive the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations based on the agreed-upon references were also discussed.
