Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry received on Tuesday his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ghandour on the sidelines of Ghandour's participation in the 4th European Union-Arab League Ministerial Meeting held in Cairo.
Shoukry underlined the importance of the Egyptian-Sudanese historical relations and asserted Cairo's keenness on boosting them in all domains.
The Egyptian minister also hailed the recent positive developments in ties between the two countries via the meetings of the Egyptian-Sudanese higher committee that convened last October at the presidential level for the first time.
The meeting also took up means of pushing forward relations between Cairo and Khartoum, following up the outcome of the joint committee as well as discussing a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The Sudanese top diplomat, for his part, said Sudan is keen to promote historical relations binding the two countries and to preserve the current momentum in bilateral ties.
Ghandour also expressed thanks to Egypt for its stances in support of Sudan at the international level and for Cairo's constant keenness on maintaining stability and development in his country.
