Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit met Thursday with Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Kentaro Sonora, who is currently visiting Egypt as part of a Mideast tour.
They exchanged viewpoints on the Arab-Japanese ties and ways of promoting cooperation between the two sides, especially at the political and economic levels.
They also discussed the latest developments in the Arab region.
The Japanese minister also congratulated Abul Gheit on assuming his new post as the AL chief, said AL spokesman Mahmoud Afifi.
Japan attaches great importance to its ties with the Arab countries, the Japanese minister said, noting that his country is keen on promoting the Arab-Japanese political dialogue within the upcoming phase
