His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Wednesday received Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation, WHO.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and the WHO official discussed cooperation between the UAE and the organisation as part of the UAE leadership's interest to enhance the health sector in the country, take part in global efforts to help those in need in poor nations, and contribute to alleviating the suffering of people in areas of crisis and disaster.
The two sides also reviewed the importance of establishing the World Health Forum and mobilising and intensifying international efforts, which address health risks that threaten poor communities.
The talks touched on the UAE's humanitarian and developmental programmes in a number of countries, particularly its efforts to combat polio and other campaigns that aim to reduce and eradicate serious diseases around the world.
Dr. Ghebreyesus highlighted WHO's international programmes that are implemented to improve health conditions and combat diseases and epidemics worldwide. The official also praised the support provided by the UAE to aid the organisation's efforts.
The meeting was attended by Khaldoon Al Mubarak, CEO of Mubadala Development Company, and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court.
