Al-Quds University on Tuesday signed an agreement with the European Union and UNDP to preserve Palestinian cultural heritage in Jerusalem\'s Old City, a statement said. The EU and UNDP will contribute 2.4 million euros ($3.1 million) to the program, which includes the rehabilitation of Hammam Al Ayn, Hammam AlShifa, Al Madrasa Al Kilaniyya and related housing units, and the development of a business management plan and training on the maintenance and management of rehabilitated sites. \"This is an ambitious project, with numerous stakeholders, and we praise UNDP\'s coordination work that allows us to be here today. Once completed, the project will unravel huge potential for the population of the Old City in terms of heritage preservation but also job creation and touristic growth\", said EU Representative John Gatt-Rutter. Al-Quds University Center and UNDP will conduct historical research and organize work shops in relation to the targeted historical sites. \"This program is very important for Jerusalem. It will revitalize the city and create awareness for the community on the importance of cultural heritage and the preservation of our identity,\" Huda al-Imam, general director of Al-Quds University Center, said.
