Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, will unveil the Gandhi statue and dedicate the Gandhi memorial, built by the Kerala Samajam, an organization of American Malayalees, at Falcon Lia Park in Florida city on the Gandhi Jayanti Day. The construction of the statue was done by Big Statue, a famous sculpturing company of the US. Around $ 49,000 was spent on the construction of both the statue and the memorial. Siddeek Ahamed, CMD of the Saudi-based Eram ITL Group, and Judi Paul, mayor of Florida, are the honorary members of Gandhi Square Movement, Florida. Paul will preside over the function at 4 p.m. today. Members of the Senate, Congress, City Corporation and Indian Consulate officials will also attend the function. This was announced by Joy Kuttiyani, president, Assissi Nadayil, secretary, and Chacko Philip, treasurer, who are the founding members of Kerala Samajam. Babu Varghese, Sajan Kurien, Piyush Agarwal, Hemanth Patel, Sekhar Reddy, George Onakkoor, Vivek Swaroop and Vijay Narang are the other founding members of the organization.
