Energy giant Shell said Tuesday it has decided on a Louisiana location to possibly build a $12.5 billion natural gas-to-liquids plant. No final decision has been made on whether to construct the facility. Shell said it will decide after more detailed planning and environmental work is done. But Louisiana officials praised the announcement that Shell had selected a site near Baton Rouge to potentially build the facility that would create natural gas-based diesel and jet fuels, along with specialty waxes and products used in plastics and detergents.
