Petroleum Development Oman eyes renewables at ADIPEC

The Managing Director of the Petroleum Development Oman, PDO, a major oil exploration and production company based in the Sultanate of Oman, has said that the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, ADIPEC, "has given us a great opportunity to promote company's excellence and expertise".

"The event is a place to learn about best practices elsewhere, and hopefully we will continue to win awards and accolades for some of the outstanding work our people have done over the year," Raoul Restucci, Managing Director, told ADIPEC NEWS.

He said that ADIPEC is an ideal forum for celebrating and showcasing the very best in the industry. "The event is a huge fixture in the oil and gas industry calendar and offers a wonderful networking environment for the key stakeholders and decision-makers," he added.

Speaking about the year's production targets, Restucci said that near-term targets will be consistent with government requirements as part of OPEC agreements, but "we have the opportunity and plans in place to ramp up long-term production plateaus by further 50-100 thousand barrel per day, bpd, over the programme period. With our partner Shell, we have identified several opportunities for incremental development that could yield in excess of 700 million barrels of recoverable reserves to support the increase in our production plateau," he said.

He went on to say that Petroleum Development Oman is gradually transitioning and expanding from a fossil fuel business to a fully-fledged energy company, with a particular emphasis on renewables, especially solar energy.
