platform were evacuated on Saturday following an indication of gas leakage, the Norwegian news agency NTB reported. "We did notice an indication of a gas leak" on the nearby Statfjord A Platform at 17:40 local time (1640) and the number of workers on it was reduced subsequently, said Andreas Bull, chief of the RescueCoordication Center for South Norway. There were 168 people on the platform when the leaking was reported, said Kjetil Visnes, a spokesman for the Norwegian energy giant Statoil. Half of those on duty on the Statfjord A platform were shifted to the Statfjord B and C platforms after the leak was located and isolated at the oil cooler on a module on the platform. "This is not about a big leaking," Visnes was quoted as saying. The situation was under control, said the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK. The production has stopped and it is not clear when it will resume, said Visnes.
