Kuwait\'s crude oil exports to Japan jumped 20.5 percent in June from a year earlier to 7.58 million barrels, or 253,000 barrels per day (bpd), for the first rise in five months, the government said Wednesday. Kuwait remained Japan\'s fourth-biggest oil supplier last month, providing 7. 7 percent of the country\'s total crude imports, compared with 6.5 percent in the same month of last year, the Natural Resources and Energy Agency said in a preliminary report. Japan\'s overall imports of crude oil in the reporting month increased 1.5 percent year-on-year to 98.32 million barrels (3.28 million bpd), up for the first time in five months. Shipments from the Middle East accounted for 85.0 percent of the total, up 0.8 percentage points from a year before. Saudi Arabia was Japan\'s biggest oil supplier, although imports from the kingdom shrank 8.4 percent from a year earlier to 902,000 bpd, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 896,000 bpd, up 37.8 percent. Qatar ranked third with 493,000 bpd, up 39.8 percent, and Russia fifth with 197,000 bpd, up 37.4 percent.
