Colombia's daily oil production has surpassed one million barrels recently, meeting one of the government's goals, President Juan Manuel Santos announced on Sunday. "It's very good news for our country," Santos said at a meeting on social problems in the Caribbean island of San Andres. "I have received very important information. I had affirmed that, at a certain time during my four-year term, we will produce more than one million barrels of crude oil per day. Yesterday (Saturday) we surpassed one million," Santos said. The next goal was to produce between 1.5 and 2 million barrels per day to become an important producer in the international market, he added. The increase of production was due to the improvement of transportation infrastructure, the decrease of pipeline attacks from guerrilla groups and the stable operation of oil fields.
