The first-of-its-kind Jordan Food Bank has been established in Jordan with the objective of collecting unused excess food from restaurants and banquets and give it to the poor. Jordan Food Bank, with the logo ” Hunger-free Jordan by 2025″, aims at providing families and individuals living below the poverty line access to nutritious food and achieve food security through spreading awareness of the best ways of exploiting excess food. Through prepared plans, project goals and strategies, the bank focuses on helping the needy people (orphans, elderly, widows, deprived families and disabled individuals) by collecting donations from public and private sectors. The non-profit foundation seeks to implement several projects in the Kingdom, most prominent is the “Hunger-Free Village Project.” The village will be selected according to the Ministry of Planning’s report of the Kingdom’s poverty pockets.
