Sony has announced the U.S. debut of the latest version of its SmartWatch, saying the second-generation device can operate 3 to 4 days between battery charges. The SmartWatch 2 also features an enhanced display to improve reading in bright sunlight, is water-resistant, and is compatible with any Android smartphone running Android 4.0 and above, PC Magazine reported Tuesday. The device will vibrate to alert wearers of messages, missed phone calls and emails. \"The average smartphone user reaches for their device more than 100 times per day to check text messages, read emails and social network notifications, and of course, to check the time,\" Ravi Nookala, president of Sony Mobile Communications, said. \"SmartWatch 2 makes these core tasks easier, and does much more with apps available, for everything from productivity to fitness and games,\" he said. Sony said the SmartWatch 2 would sell for $199, an increase from the $129 price of the first version.
