woman dies on Facebook Live

The family of an American woman who collapsed and died while doing a Facebook Live recording is slamming her viewers for "doing nothing" to save her, local media reported.

Keiana Herndon, a 26-year-old mother of two, went live on Facebook on the night of Dec. 28 at a friend's house in Arkansas.

In the video, Herndon talked and sang to viewers together with her younger son. When about 20 people were watching, she started to sweat profusely, fell to the ground and struggled to breathe, her uncle told The Washington Post.

"Then maybe seven or eight minutes into the video, she passed out," he was quoted as saying.

Her 1-year-old child picked up Herndon's phone from the floor and started playing with it. However, no one called the police or tried to check on the dying woman, according to Herndon's family.

"It's amazing for someone to sit there and see somebody or hear them take their last breath, and nobody did anything," said the woman's father.

About half an hour later, Herndon's friend returned home and found her passed out. The friend called 911, but it was too late. Herndon was pronounced dead at hospital.

According to Herndon's family, the woman had been suffering from a thyroid condition for years, which was known only to her family and closest friends.
