Some Netflix customers are making a significant change in viewing habits, utilizing the service more for streaming TV content than for films, a survey found. An online survey by Nielsen in March and April found 19 percent of Netflix subscribers prefer using the service for TV programming, up from 11 percent, while those indicating a preference for movies dipped from 53 percent to 47 percent, Variety reported Tuesday. Netflix has increased the amount of TV programming it has licensed while absorbing some major losses on the film side, including the end of an arrangement with Starz that had delivered movies from Disney and Sony. Netflix said TV had overtaken film as the source of the majority of hours streamed even as it signed news streaming arrangements with other movie studies to replace the Disney and Sony loss, Variety reported.
