The 11th Operation and Maintenance Forum in the Arab Countries, which was held in Jeddah, KSA, has honoured Sharjah Research Academy and commended its collaboration in supporting the forum with specialised studies and research in the fields of operation and maintenance. On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Mansour bin Miteb, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, honoured Sharjah Research Academy, which presented its experience as a UAE developer and provider of modern and innovative solutions in the field of operations and maintenance and the latest related developments and technologies, as well as their economic impacts. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mufeed Al Samerai, Senior Advisor of the Sharjah Research Academy, said, \"The SRA is proud to present excellent UAE solutions that serve to preserve and maintain the region\'s huge architectural assets and contribute to raising awareness of these solutions among building owners and the real estate community. The academy has made great strides in having these solutions recognised by both the public and decision makers in the construction sector.\" Dr. Al Samerai added, \"The GCC region will have 6 of the world\'s 10 tallest towers by the year 2020, and the UAE will have one of the world\'s highest ratios of multi-storey buildings and towers per capita. Detecting errors such as concrete corrosion at early stages will be a complicated task.\" The three-day conference recommended the implementation of operations and maintenance to programmes that will allow engineers to obtain certified professional standard qualifications, in addition to the formulation of a standard contract for the execution of operation and maintenance works through contractors that would act as a benchmark for all levels.
