Kuwait Science Club (KSC) on Tuesday won two awards in the 5th Intel Science Competition Arab World 2014 (ISC AW), held in Qatar, 9-11 November. The KSC had joined the competition with four projects.
The two winner projects are entitled 'Mr. Pollution' and 'Application of the healthy school canteens to treat obesity,' said head of the team to Qatar, Mohammad Al-Saffar, Executive Director of the Science and Engineering Competition told KUNA.
Al-Saffar thanked the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) for supporting participation by the KSC team in the ISC AW. He also appreciated the KSC efforts to disseminate scientific culture among the youth.
The Kuwaiti projects that took part in the ISC AW were the ones that won top ranks of the second Science and Engineering Competition organized by KSC last year in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The Competition was supported KFAS.
The other unlucky two projects are a poll on students' views on violence in the "student community" and the impact of temperature on biofuel from mosses.
The ISC AW is an annual Pan Arab Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) competition for students in grades 9 to 12. It was held in Qatar for the first time, with participation of more than 100 students from 11 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
