KT Corp., South Korea's No. 2 mobile carrier whose client information was stolen en masse by hackers, said Friday it will maintain its "no compensation" policy for the latest data leak unless there is proof of actual damage. "For now, KT does not have plans to provide compensation for damages which have not yet been incurred," an official from KT said, requesting anonymity. The company's position is that it will not compensate for "vague" damages such as mental duress, he said.
