Steering clear of the allegations, a Google executive has taken a stand for Samsung in its patent infringement trial against Apple. He reportedly said that Google engineers have never copied Apple's iPhone features for use in Android. The above statement was made during testimony in the Apple v. Samsung patent-infringement trial. Google vice president of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer, walked the jury through early development of Android and said engineers actually tried to make software that was very different from Apple's iOS mobile operating system. He emphasized that the company liked to have its own identity and ideas, adding that it was very passionate about what it was doing, and it was important that it had its own ideas. Hiroshi Lockheimer was the first witness that Samsung called in its defense against Apple.
