Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim al-Mutawa

Minister of State for Follow-up Affairs, Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, today took part in 2014 Dubai Forum for Government's Best Practices being held at Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler.
A number of international speakers take part in the two-day forum, where international and local experiences on building smart institutions are reviewed to bolster the exchange of knowledge and successful expertise among government authorities and institutions in the field of excellence and development of government performance, as well as providing a stimulating work environment for effective performance.
Follow-up State Minister, in his speech addressing the forum, highlighted Bahrain's progress achieved in e-government index and its 18th position at the international level according to UN reports.
He added that the technological concept of smart government represents an extension of e-government, which focuses on providing services effectively and efficiently at all times by use of smart applications, such as mobile phones and digital devices. While the socio-political concept of the same represents meeting people's aspirations by engaging them in developing policies and implementing programmes aim to achieve their aspirations.
He stressed the use of smart tools in raising competitiveness and productivity, saving time and costs and disseminating knowledge.
The forum is themed (Government smart learning) and focusses on the role of government learning in improving performance and services.
32 lecturers to address 21 specialized sessions in the presence of more than 1000 government employees of UAE and with the participation of official delegations of Arab countries in the forum.
