The Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company, Du, and Emirates Telecommunication Corporation — etisalat have topped a list of 10 local companies in terms of spending on advertisements in the period between January and July this year. The two companies spent Dhs36 million, accounting for 40 per cent of the total spending of 10 local companies on commercial advertisements in mass media, according to statistics issued by Ipsos Company. Du spent Dhs19 million to secure the first place in the list of the biggest spenders on commercial advertisement between January and July this year, followed by etisalat, which spent around Dhs17 million on its advertisements in the different mass media. The statistics showed that Emirates NBD Bank came third in the list as it spent Dhs9 million, followed by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, which came fourth after spending around Dhs8 million on its commercial advertisements between January and July 2011. Mercedes and Sony spent Dhs7 million each on the commercial advertisements in the second half of this year while Samsung and Carrefour spent Dhs6 million each, followed by HSBC Bank and Sedar Furniture which spent Dhs5 million each on their commercial advertisements in the first half of this year. Meanwhile, Etisalat has already announced a Group net profit after federal royalty of Dhs3.41 billion for the six month period ended 30 June 2011.
