Pokemon Go Game

Cambodia on Friday advised Pokemon Go players to be cautious while playing in the complex of the famed Angkor archaeological park.

"For temples' safety and personal safety, the Apsara Authority would like to appeal to all national and international tourists to have high responsibility in playing Pokemon Go in the Angkor area, especially in the complex of ancient temples," Sum Map, director general of the Apsara Authority, which manages the park, said in a statement.

The statement also urged the players to follow instructions from tour guides, to respect all signs in temples, and not to enter prohibited or dangerous areas.

Located in northwest Siem Reap province, the Angkor archaeological park, inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's most popular tourist destination. The site received some 1.09 million foreign tourists in the first six months of 2016, earning 31 million U.S. dollars from ticket sales.

Pokemon Go, a smartphone game combining augment reality technology and Global Positioning System (GPS), is raising safety concerns after global reports of injuries and deaths caused by it.

The interactive game requires players to explore their real-world surroundings to capture digital Pokemon creatures, train them and use them to fight against other players.
