The Ministry of Science and Higher Education announced a list of 58 winners of the first edition its "Mobility Plus" programme. Under this programme, scientists can conduct research in research centres of their choice, anywhere in the world. The largest grant, more than PLN 700 thousand, was awarded to Dr. Piotr Zió?kowski from the Department of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University. For 3 years he will conduct research into meiotic recombination at the University of Cambridge. Research work to be carried out at foreign research centres also include, for example, research on bilingualism, biological clock response to stress, or the construction of piezoelectric nanotubes. The aim of the competition is to enable scientists to participate in scientific research in reputable international scientific centres under the supervision of eminent scientists of international standing. The programme provides finances the stay at a foreign scientific centre and travel between participant’s place of residence and the foreign centre. Funding awarded under the program also includes the cost of living abroad of minor children and spouse of the winner and their travelling expenses. The program aims to help participants in further development of their scientific careers by gaining experience and knowledge through participating in research or development work carried out using equipment and methods unavailable in Poland
