The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has launched an unmanned Atlas-5 rocket which is the first of a new generation of telecommunications satellites. The satellite will support the mission of the International Orbit Station and Hubble Telescope as well as other spaceships orbiting around the globe. The rocket comes as part of a series of 13 rockets planned to be launched this year from the Cape Canaveral Airbase adjacent to the Kennedy Aerospace Center in Florida State, USA. The new satellite costs from USD 350 million to USD 400 million and takes approximately ten days to reach its preset orbit. The satellite will undergo a three months' probationary period before it officially goes into service.
