For a full week earlier this month, Google Chrome was the most-used browser in the world, overtaking Internet Explorer, search tracker StatCounter reported. Although Chrome has been steadily outdoing the incumbent IE on weekends, the week of May 14th–20th was the first time Chrome has averaged a higher traffic share over a full seven-day stretch, TheVerge.com reported Monday. While Internet Explorer still has the lead in the United States, 37 to 26 percent, and things are more or less neck-and-neck in Europe and Africa, the numbers change when you include Asia and South America, TheVerge said. Chrome leads in India, but just by 8 percent, but South American is what has put Chrome over the top in the browser wars. There, Chrome has a nearly 50 percent share overall, attributed by some analysts to the popularity of Google\'s Orkut social networking service.
