A German court handed down a suspended sentence of one year and nine months in prison to a U.S. tourist who bit off a man's lip at the Munich Oktoberfest. The victim, identified as Ben M., was celebrating in a beer tent when the American defendant, Tesia D., put her elbow in one of his friend's faces, TheLocal.de reported. A fight then began between the 30-year-old woman and the 23-year-old Australian, and Tesia D. bit down on his lower lip, tearing 1.2 inches of flesh from it, police allege. "She took my lip between her teeth and bit harder and harder. I tried to break away. She turned her head and tore my lip off. My lip was lying on the floor. I thought I was unconscious," he said. Doctors tried to sew the lip back on, but the operation did not work, TheLocal.de reported. Tesia D. has paid Ben M. $15,000 in compensation. The victim said in a letter to the court that he is still suffering. "I had to learn to speak again. I can't kiss anymore," he said. The defendant has been detained since the attack. The report said she was due to fly back to the United States Tuesday..
