Abu Dhabi - WAM
The humanitarian initiative, "My Child's Seat," launched by the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, SCMC, in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, has been a success by providing children's car seats to prevent injuries and fatalities caused by traffic accidents.
Reem Al Falasy, Secretary-General of SCMC, said that this successful humanitarian initiative, which was inspired by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has achieved its goals and brought together many groups for funding and donations of car seats to protect children during car accidents.
Al Falasy clarified that this project targeting parents and the community has been successful in encouraging organizations and community members to donate car seats for families in need. Thumbay Hospital the leading network of private academic hospitals owned and operated by Thumbay Group in Dubai has pledged to distribute 400 car seats across the UAE in support of the initiative. She added that many other organizations are joining the campaign to donate hundreds of car seats.
Thumbay Moideen, Founder-President of Thumbay Group, said, "Thumbay Group is honoured to be a part of this humanitarian cause, initiated in line with the directives of H.H. Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. This campaign will not only help raise awareness among parents on the importance of their children’s safety, but will also inspire them to bring up their children as law-abiding citizens. By taking the campaign’s message to expectant parents, Thumbay Hospital aims to ensure that the safety of each child begins from the time he/she leaves the hospital as a newborn."
He added that Thumbay Hospital will distribute 400 children’s car seats across the UAE. The seats will be given to expectant mothers who book their delivery packages at Thumbay Hospitals in Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah, in November 2017.
