Sex workers in California held an event to get colleagues to sign up for healthcare under the Affordable Care Act, which they say will be beneficial to them. The registration drive took place last week in San Francisco and was dubbed the "Healthy Ho's Party," CNNMoney reported. "Jolene," a sex worker who volunteered at the event, said she has already enrolled through the California exchange and was at the event to help others through the process. "I am here mostly to put my skill at filling out bureaucratic forms to use," Jolene said. Jolene said one of the biggest draws of the ACA -- commonly known as Obamacare -- is that applicants do not need to report their employment. People who receive federal healthcare will have access to contraception, screening for sexually transmitted infections, and violence counseling as part of their plans, which sex workers say make a big difference in their community. Another sex worker and activist known as "Maxine Holloway" said she's working toward a master's degree in public health. "Through my studies, I have looked at a lot of different countries and how they take care of their people," Holloway said. "We are one of the only countries that does not take care of our citizens in that way."
