The children at Kids World Nursery prepare iftar

The tears flowed as a group of nursery children prepared a surprise iftar party for mothers working away from their families.
The 15 children from Kids World Nursery, in Jumeirah Village Circle, made vegetable and chicken sandwiches, decorated paper bags and filled them with dates, apple, laban, water and juice, as well as singing songs for the 70 women at their accommodation.
The Ramadan gesture left many reflective and thinking of their own children.
Inoka Udeni was shocked to see so many children at her accommodation in Dubai Production City, formerly International Media Production Zone. "Most of us had no idea about the party. It was a pleasant surprise. We felt so honoured and loved the way these young angels served us iftar with so much affection. We are grateful," said the 40-year-old Sri Lankan cleaner and mother of two children, aged eight and six.
Ms Udeni said she missed her own children – she has not seen them for two years – whenever she interacted with other children.
"My children love sandwiches. I was missing them a lot while eating the sandwiches prepared for us. I called my kids that night and told them about our party," said Ms Udeni.
Julius Salazer accompanied his five-year-old daughter, Julia, to the party. He said he was unable to stop his tears as he watched. The 32-year-old Filipino father said: "I was so overwhelmed that I started crying when I saw my young girl and her friends distributing food to these brave women. My girl has learnt such a precious thing in her life – the joy of sharing."
Tolulope Ariyibi-o-k-e, mother of Kanyi, 5, said her daughter enjoyed the experience so much that she wanted to make sandwiches every day and take them to the women.
"She started crying when I told her it was not meant for every day. I am so glad that my child has learnt something during the month of Ramadan," said the 35-year-old from Nigeria.
