Israeli police Monday banned women and the youth from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque and only allowed the elderly if they leave their IDs at checkpoints outside the mosque.
The Israeli police closed the Al-Qatanin, King Faisal and Al-Hadid gates.
Jewish settlers and foreign tourists were allowed into the mosque through the Magharba Gate under tight security measures.
