A Sudanese woman convicted of adultery was sentenced to death by stoning, Human Rights Watch said. U.S.-based Human Rights Watch condemned the Sudanese court ruling, saying it violates \"domestic and international law.\" The young woman known as Abdalah was sentenced in April in the Sudanese capital Khartoum. She is awaiting her punishment in jail with her baby. Sudan is one of only seven countries that practices death by stoning, the Malta Times said Saturday HRW said Thursday it hoped to have the ruling overturned, saying Abdalah had only been convicted of adultery after a confession was beaten out of her.
