HRH Princess Sabeeka hails late Aisha Yateem’s achievements

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has lauded the giving and dedication of the late Aisha Yateem, one of women’s work and voluntary work pioneers in Bahrain.

HRH Princess Sabeeka praised the key role played by the late Aisha Yateem in establishing the Bahrain Young Ladies Association in the 1950s, as well as her dedicated efforts in laying the foundation for charitable and voluntary work, along with other women’s associations which played a major role in strengthening the pillars of women’s march whose outstanding results are witnessed today.

The SCW President hailed the publication of the Arabic version of the "Bahrain Memories: Glimpses of the Past" book which was written by the late Aisha Yateem in 1992, praising the efforts exerted by the author to compile her valuable book which documents the writer’s life events, and sheds light on the progress of the Bahraini society during a historical phase in which Bahrain’s comprehensive development march started.

HRH Princess Sabeeka made the statements while receiving the family of the late Aisha Yateem, and the members of the Board of Trustees of the Aisha Yateem Family Counselling Centre, at the SCW’s premises today.

HRH Princess Sabeeka praised the joint cooperation between the SCW and the Aisha Yateem Family Counselling Centre within a national strategy to protect the family from domestic violence, commending the quality efforts exerted by the centre to deliver counselling services and preventive procedures to reduce domestic violence cases.

She called for intensifying programmes between the Aisha Yateem Family Counselling Centre and the relevant sides for the sake of raising the awareness of Bahraini male and female youth on their rights and duties in order to promote the legal culture, stressing the SCW’s constant readiness to cooperate with all institutions and agencies that are related to family counselling.

Members of the late Aisha Yateem’s family and the Aisha Yateem Family Counselling Centre board members praised the efforts of HRH Princess Sabeeka, as SCW president, to support Bahraini women, which, they said, resulted in their attaining landmark achievements and reaching decision-making positions.

HRH Princess Sabeeka’s support has also contributed to increasing Bahraini women’s participation in the public and private sectors, thus becoming equal partners, along with men, in the nation-building process.
