The Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, has said that Emirati women have played a great role in the development of the UAE, and they are an example to follow locally, regionally and internationally, on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day.
In an event organised by the Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs, 44 female employees, with 20 years of service in the department, were honoured in appreciation of their noticeable achievements and dedicated service.
Musabih said, "They are an integral part of our country’s success and a real partner in its development and progress. The vision of the UAE’s leaders has enabled women to take greater strides, and the past years have seen a series of milestones being reached in the field of women’s empowerment."
"From the very birth of the country, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan placed women at the heart of the nation's process. The project of building the UAE could not have been accomplished without women. Their opportunities for education, employment and advancement have been enthusiastically taken up. As far as the country has come, there is still room for more. Emirati Women’s Day is not only a celebration, but is also a preparation for many years and decades of continued involvement and leadership from the women of the UAE," he added.
Mariam Khalifa Al-Shamsi, Head of the Women's Committee at Dubai Customs, said, "Rewarding women who have worked at Dubai Customs for 20 years is the least we can do to thank them. We recognise their great efforts in helping make Dubai Customs a successful example for others to follow around the world.
